Day 1: Welcome to Siem Reap

Welcome to Siem Reap, the provincial capital and gateway to the ancient Angkor temples. Designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the Angkor Archaeological Park encompasses dozens of temple ruins including Bayon, Banteay Srei and the legendary Angkor Wat. Our guide will meet you at the airport and transfer you to hotel in the central of Siem Reap city, then enjoy the evening at your leisure. We recommend a short walk to Siem Reap’s downtown night market.

Day 2: Siem Reap Angkor – Cycling Tours

Today begin your biking adventure through the magnificent Angkor Archaeological Park. Our guide will meet you the hotel for a quick briefing and warm up then we’ll take small road out of Siem Reap toward the Angkor complex. The tour starts with a visit to the legendary Angkor Wat – the largest Khmer temple and finest example of Angkorian art and architecture, then pedal to Angkor Thom’s imposing South Gate, topped with the four serenely smiling faces of Avalokiteshvara. Next, visit Bayon Temple, the Elephant Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King. Leaving Angkor Thom by the north gate, we bike to Preah Khan (Sacred Sword), one of Angkor’s largest temples, constructed in the 12th century by Jayavarman VII. Lunch in your own before visiting the mysterious, jungle-entwined Ta Prohm temple.

Day 3: Siem Reap – Kbal Spean - Banteay Srei – Banteay Samre- Sunset at Pre Rup

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel then set off on a drive to the tranquil countryside around Kbal Spean - was the refuge of 11th – 13th century religious hermits and over the centuries they carved lingas stands, animals and sacral friezes into the surrounding rocks and riverbeds. Today, a well-marked path leads up the forested hillside to the central area that contains most of the carvings. The walk takes about 45 minutes. Visitors are rewarded for their effort by a stunning waterfall and rock pools in which to bathe and cool off. In addition to the carvings there is also a variety of fauna at Kbal Spean and the trees and rock pools attract a colorful array of butterflies. Lunch in your own then we continue the drive to elegant temple of Banteay Srei, home to Angkor’s finest stone carvings. Next explore Banteay Samre. On the way back to town, you will watch the sunset in Pre Rup, considered as Mini Angkor Wat. Return to the hotel later in the afternoon.

Day 4: Cycling Tours to Rolous Group – Kampong Pluk

Today we visit some of the oldest temples in the Angkor complex. After breakfast we bike out of town to the ancient capital of King Indravarman I (877-889), referred to as the Rolous Group and known as the birthplace of classical Khmer art and architecture. Stop for lunch at the local village (lunch at your own, reservation is needed) before biking back to Siem Reap (total biking distance: 26km). In the late afternoon we will drive to Kampong Pluk and board a boat to tour Tonle Sap Lake, Cambodia’s largest natural water reservoir. Visit the nearby floating village you will learn more about local life on the water. Return to Siem Reap in the evening.

Day 5: Siem Reap Departure

Have breakfast at the hotel then drive to Siem Reap International airport to catch your flight home.
